Find your asset to YOUR company !

Image
Dear Listeners, I've learned so many new things I should be asking myself at least every month to better myself as an employee. The question you should be asking yourself is How can I become a better asset. I want to work on myself and become better. The three things you should focus on is trust, authority, and respect. So how I became a better asset?  Is going out on a whim. Andrea and I initated a business opportunity. We met with an employee from a close Ann Arbor company. And he gave us amazing advice on how to get our foot in the door in a company. How to stand out and move your way up. As well as some tips to become a better asset to our company. The meeting went so well that 30 minutes turned into an hour! With him willing to do a follow up meeting with someone from Shapelog to build a connection. Being able to make an impact like that as a intern and junior in college is exciting. And it reminds me how much I love business and marketing. This is one way how I showed my

I THINK I LOVE BEING A INTERN?

Dear Listeners, The Shapelog team has ventured to Canada and Andrea and I wish we were there as well. We are wishing them all the luck in the world to close this sale! Currently Andrea and I are still getting up to meet at 9A.M. We are at Biggby coffee to meet a employee of Nustep who is also a Eastern alumni. We are going to learn a little bit more about him and Nustep itself. We are extremely excited and we would hope this ends in a closed sale. We wouldn't close the sale but we would refer him to speak to a team member of Shapelog. I love my company and I love being in this internship because I really feel apart of the company and that we are actually making a difference. Kind Regards, Dasha Jones

Shapelog ventures to Canada

Dear Listeners, Shapelog is headed to Canada to present to a company who may not be named. But its very exciting to see Shapelog practice their pitch in the office. Shapelog goes over their pitch about three times one in office and then separately in the hotel. And I wouldn't put past them that they won't go over this in the car on the way to Canada. When Shapelog does a pitch they bring the entire team in the CEO,COO, CIO, product engineer,  and data analyst. It is a team of 6 not including us as interns. Shapelog values including all of their team members during the presentation. Andrea and I the interns  even had to introduce ourselves as interns during the practice pitch. One trait that Shapelog has that I love as a company. Is that critisizm  is taken properly. The members discuss and agree or disagree if something should be taken out or put in. I really think this is how Shapelog gets along so well and why they are so organzied as a start up. Check back tomorrow for mor

The Life of a Intern Day 5

Hello Listeners !! Yet again another Monday call with lots of exciting news ! Somehow I confused the data scientist with the COO. For those of you who don't know what COO means it is the chief of operations and our COO is located out of Chicago. What he does he manages part or all of the daily operations of a business. A topic discussed that we spoke to me was what if they say "no thanks". What do we do ? Then one person suggested to ask why are friends or foe, a threat or just irrelevant. Why does this company not want our product. Which I thought were great questions and a company should be able to answer. Shapelog is also excited about another upcoming event they have been planning for a while. Each person in the company has a chance to lead the demo and this is time it will be the data scientist. He said he is very excited to do the demo but he would like advice from everybody on what he should speak on. Also how to go about the presentation. There will be more news

Day 4 At Shapelog

Dear Listeners, Today Tuesday June 27, 2017 I will be going to Anytime Fitness to get some photography for our July newsletter. Since I won't be here for the week of July 10th which is when the newsletter will be released. I am going to Germany to see my brother, we will be traveling to France and Ireland while I'm there. Brandon the product engineer and I will be going to Anytime fitness later in the day. So he can show me what equipment has the Shaplog devices on them. Also how does the Shapelog device works and it is up to me to figure out some innovative ideas for pictures. Hopefully the local gym members won't mind getting their picture taken for Instagram. Sincerely, Dasha Jones (:

DAY 3 at Shapelog

Hello Listeners, Thanks for tuning in once again to hear me rave about my internship at Shapelog. We did our usual Monday meeting. Unfortunately it was a bad week for us, we didn't get a lot of customers working out. We use to have a full class of 10, and we were actually selling out of classes. But now we are only getting 2-3 people on Mondays and Wednesday. So what would we would like to do is increase word of mouth of our fitness classes. So what this did was create a start up for me and Andrea's new project. If I haven't mentioned before Andrea is my partner and she is simply amazing. So we have three huge projects coming up as I said before. Since I do a bit of photography we will be doing pictures and content. Brian would like for our pictures to be very innovative and creative. We will also be scheduling and executing social + ad budget. As well as running the email newsletter. Then the funnest part of all attending a fitness class at Anytime fitness to track our s

Day Two of Shapelog Internship

Dear Listeners, Thanks for checking back in I hope you continue to check back through the summer. So yesterday we got our first assignment, which we will continue throughout the week. Our assignment is basically to probe companies they are interested in inventing in. Wow way to many in's in that sentence. But we need to find out the events these companies will be at. People of contact and not the CEO but marketing managers, sale managers, and so on. We need to find out whats social media's they are using and which ones they are using the most. Then we need to figure out the company size and their revenue yearly.  Just to find out if they are worth contacting at all. This has been an extremely interesting process and I am learning quite a lot about fitness. Check back in next week for updates on this internship. Signed, Dasha Jones
